Rooted in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture since its founding in 1913, Nankei Pottery continues to support Japan's tea culture with its mastery of Banko ware techniques. This tea bowl features a simple, linear design that harmonizes with the sencha teapot series and is finished with a matte unglazed surface that enriches its expression with use. More than just a vessel for enjoying beverages, this tea bowl enhances its allure with frequent use, growing in attachment over the years alongside its user. With its simple yet beautiful design and practicality, why not make every tea time special with a Nankei Pottery tea bowl that naturally fits any table setting?

DESCRIPTION

Crafted from selected high-density, non-permeable clay and lightly fired to achieve a black finish, this tea bowl is exceptionally durable. Its matte texture and unique unglazed tactile feel evolve with daily use, making it a long-cherished item. The white version is a modern reproduction of the "shirodoro" (white clay) used in the Showa era, which gains luster and expression with age.

Each tea bowl at Nankei Pottery is handcrafted by artisans with over a century of history at the kiln. Every bowl is born from intricate handiwork, undergoing biscuit firing, glost firing, and quality inspections to completion. These processes ensure that beautiful tea bowls imbued with Japan's traditional techniques come to life in the modern world.
