Yasuda tiles, a tradition continuing from the late Edo period, are made using a reduction firing method at temperatures above 1200 degrees Celsius, resulting in a low water absorption rate and excellent insulation and cold resistance, making them durable and suitable for cold climates. Production began in the Tenpō era (1830s), and by the Meiji era, domestic demand increased, and their quality and durability were widely recognized. Even today, their excellent durability, seismic resistance, water resistance, and other superior properties make them ideal roofing materials for Japanese homes.
